I received my B.S. degree and the M.S. degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 1987 and 1989 respectively, both in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

Prior to commencing the work for my Masters degree, I was a visiting research assistant at the Signal Processing Laboratory of the Tampere University of Technology in Tampere, Finland where I studied finite impulse response median hybrid filters.

After completing my Masters degree, I worked as a Member of Technical Staff at Bellcore in Red Bank,NJ, where I wrote SS7 requirements and actively participated in T1S1 standards.

In 1994, I received my Ph.D. from Princeton University in Electrical Engineering.

From 1994 to 2001 I held Assistant and Associate professorships at the Ohio State University department of Electrical Engineering.

I am currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Southern California.
