Bhaskar Krishnamachari has been promoted to Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering, with tenure, effective immediately.
Bhaskar's research is in the broad field of wireless sensor networks (WSNs). WSNs are unsupervised large-scale networks of embedded sensing systems, with many applications, including: public security, healthcare and emergency services, monitoring the health of structures, and measuring physical environmental parameters.
His research is both theoretical and experimental. He is particularly known for his work on: modeling and understanding data transmission over lossy wireless channels and developing methods for robust and efficient data delivery over them; finding fundamental performance limits and optimized methods for gathering data from a set of sensors; and efficient protocols and techniques for data-centric storage and querying in WSNs.
