August 30, 2011 —

Bhaskar Krishnamachari, associate professor and Ming Hsieh Faculty Fellow in our Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical Engineering, will receive a 2011 Technology Review TR35 award. Technology Review magazine is published by MIT, and annually honors 35 innovators under 35 years old whose work promises to transform the world.

He was selected for the TR35 List by a panel of expert judges and the editorial staff of Technology Review, who evaluated more than 300 nominations. He will join other TR35 honorees in discussing their achievements at the emtech MIT 2011 conference, taking place in Cambridge, MA on October 18-19, 2011. More details can be found here.

Bhaskar Krishnamachari’s research at USC focuses on designing algorithms for next generation wireless networks to improve their efficiency and to enable their use in new applications such as smart buildings and vehicular networks, which will be key components of the intelligent networked society of the future.

“Technology innovation is key to driving growth and progress in the areas of research, medicine, business and economics,” said Jason Pontin, editor-in-chief and publisher of Technology Review. “This year’s group of TR35 recipients is driving the next wave of transformative technology and making an impact on the way we live, work and interact. We look forward to profiling and working with these technology leaders each year, and watching their continued advancement in their respective fields.”

Alexander Sawchuk, Chair of the Ming Hsieh EE-Systems Department, commented: "our faculty join me in congratulating Bhaskar for the very significant TR35 award, an important acknowledgment of his technical advances in wireless communications and networks."
